Below is a rough guide to all the holes, which hopefully will be of assistance to anyone playing the course for the first time. No 1. Carreg Gam ( Crooked Rock) A dogleg left hole with "OOB" to the left, so aim for the large rock and then through the gap in the wall towards a raised green, but beware of problems to the right. Should anyone attempt to drive towards the green, beware of "OOB" on the 18th fairway beyond the wall. No 2. Y Llyn (The Lake) Aim for the marker post but note a ditch crosses the fairway just beyond it. A downhill fairway to the lake, beyond which a green with sloping sides, makes it difficult to hold the ball on the green. With limited space to the sides and rear of the green, this hole is the hardest one on the course. No 3. Y Chwarel (The Quarry) The elevated tee offers a good view of the fairway rising towards the upward sloping green, hence it is beneficial to leave an uphill putt. No 4. Y Beudy (The Cowshed) A generous slightly uphill fairway to the green with ample space around, but beware of the "OOB" to the left adjacent the Sheds Compound. No 5. Moel y Gest (Local hill name beyond the green) Aim for the marker post behind the hidden green but beware of problems behind the green. No 6. Gloddfa (Mine) A slight dogleg left hole so aim for the marker post on the generous fairway from where you can see the green left of the Gloddfa (now an "OOB" wooded reservoir). Beware of problems behind the green. No 7 Moelwyn (Horizon hills names) A narrow fairway leads to the green but beware of problems if through or too far right. No 8. Tua'r Pennant (Looking towards Pennant) A straight forward hole with a generous fairway leading to the green. No 9. Braich y Saint (Name of the adjacent farm) A slightly uphill fairway leads to the green but beware of problems if through or too far right. No 10. Caer-dyni (Local hill name beyond the green) The longest hole on the course and a slight dogleg left. Aim for the marker post on the generous fairway, from where you will see the green sheltered by pine trees to the left and behind, so keep clear of them. No 11. Y Garn (Horizon hill name beyond the green) A slight uphill dogleg right hole, so aim for the marker post from where the green can be seen. The generous fairway leads to a rear banked green. No 12. Brwyn (Reeds) An area of reeds and rough before and right of the fairway needs avoiding to reach the green in front of the trees. No 13. Tre'r Ceiri (Iron Age Fort on the distant hills) Aim over the ditches/wall towards the marker post on the wide fairway from where you can see the green with limited space at the sides and rear. No14. Clawydd (Wall) The easiest par 4 on the course having cleared the reeds and rough areas when aiming at the marker post, and there is ample space all around the green. No15 Twll Graig (Rock Hole) A spacious fairway awaits a good tee shot over the lengthy rough area, before a rock face looms up to challenge your approach shot to the upward sloping green at the top of the hill. As on no 3 green, it is beneficial to leave an uphill putt. No16. Treferthyr (Ancient name for Criccieth) The shortest hole on the course and the easiest!!- unless you lose concentration admiring the magnificent views. A delicate pitch shot is all thats needed (weather permitting), but beware of being through the green and facing a difficult pitch back. Apologies for having to walk past the Clubhouse to play the last 2 holes. No 17 Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon-yes the summit is visible on a clear day) A good view of the distant green along a generous fairway, but beware of the"OOB" to the right. The ideal approach to the green is between the front left and right banks, but there is ample space around the green. No 18. Castell (Criccieth Castle) The castle is the target for the tee shot for a good par 5 (white tee) downhill finishing hole for the long hitters to let rip. Beware of being long with the approach shot to the green.
